The Wood, gadgets, gizmos & doodads to feed your obsession!
After getting back into the hobby after too many years away, I found some things much easier in terms of getting tools and supplies. The Internet and Amazon had made that part of the hobby infinitely more convenient! What I did find problems getting was good cut wood and some of the more esoteric materials that now permeate the indoor model airplane hobby. Additionally, in getting started I realized there were an enormous amount of Jigs and forms I needed to build effectively, but didn’t have enough skill or understanding yet to build the jig to build the airplane to be able to fly the airplane… and that’s really what I wanted to be doing.. flying the airplane!
Indoor Free Flight Supply was started as an effort to help those people new to the hobby or returning get up and running quickly and get to the fun part, FLYING the airplane, sooner!
We add new products to the lineup quickly, so look back often! One of the thing we are focused on is acting as a curator of the BEST tools. You can buy a dozen of the wrong tool before you find the RIGHT one, so IFFS is focused on testing all of those tools and bringing you only the BEST tool for the job. If you have suggestions for products feel free to send us a message, we are more than happy to steal great ideas! If you MAKE something that would benefit the hobby, but don’t want to hassle with putting up an e-commerce site.. lets talk! If you have an estate of hobby stuff you want to liquidate, reach out.
Initially we are focusing on products that aren’t already readily available: Jigs, Forms, and cut wood you need. In addition to our own wood, we are offering “Estate Wood” bought from the estates of modelers who left too soon to use all their good wood! While we would prefer every modeler use all their good wood before their time comes, we want to be sure it doesn’t go to waste, no modeler worth their salt would want their good stuff to be wasted!

So what the heck IS Indoor Free Flight?
Free flight model airplanes are designed, built, and trimmed to fly without benefit of user intervention after launch. Indoor free flight models do so indoors, requiring even greater thought and care about trimming the aircraft to remain aloft inside the confines of a building. These models are typically very light and fly at slow speeds powered by twisted rubber strips driving a large propeller. It is also possible to fly gliders indoors from rubber catapults. Indoor models are one of the least expensive and simplest ways to get started in aeromodelling, aeronautics, and aerodynamics, and suitable flying sites are available in most locations all year round.
Indoor free flight models are most often flown for endurance where the longest flight (or best two flights in some events) determines the winner. Thus, every detail or extra bit of weight makes a difference. Modelers attempt to convert as much of the potential energy in the wound rubber band into extra time on the stopwatch! This is both a hobby and a puzzle, and it is always an amazing thrill to watch something you built with your own two hands fly on its own.
